Tuina
Tui Na or An Mo Tui Na is the Traditional Chinese Medicine bodywork or manual therapy system. “Tui Na” actually means “push/pull-lift” and refers to two of the primary techniques in this complex system. It is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, fire cupping, Chinese herbalism, and Qi Gong.
Dr. Mathis received her Veterinary Tuina training at the Chi Institute.
Dr Mathis may brush, knead, roll/press and rub your pet’s body to open the body’s defensive (wei) chi and get the energy moving in both the meridians and the muscles. She can then use range of motion, traction, massage, with the stimulation of acupressure points and to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions. Often she will teach simpler moves to owners so they can treat the patients themselves between visits.
