Initial appointment typically last 1.5 to 2 hours which begin with a thorough history. Past illnesses and behaviors often contribute to the current problems. Diet history and current diet are evaluated. Previous treatments and outcomes, both successes and failures are explored for clues. Seasons, weather, times of day and social circumstances when behaviors or illness occur may be important. Keeping a diary of of all incidences with dates, times, weather, social circumstances, treatments and outcomes is highly recommended for all pets. Once a diagnosis is reached, treatments and diets will be discussed. Dr. Mathis will happily go over any Western treatments.

Western treatments may be continued with any alternative treatments. Treatments are typically weekly until progress is seen, then will be spaced out accordingly. Rechecks usually take 45 minutes to 1 hour. All treatments are regularly evaluated for efficacy. If a treatment isn’t helping it should not be part of the plan.
